I can’t believe it’s been over a month since we last spoke. France, Italy, New York, Philadelphia… I’ve really bounced around. I’m tired but feeling fulfilled! Our honeymoon travel recap will come as soon as it can (see the “What I’m” section below) but for now, please accept my late June mood board and a report for my week back East.
We’re revisiting the past and reintroducing low-spend into our lives, only this time, an entire low-spend Summer. After a hectic (+ pricey) Spring and several trips coming up this Fall, I’m looking forward to the next few months being low-key. Cooking at home, reading in the park, games and snacks with friends, etc. Accepting any and all “boring girl Summer” recommendations in the comments!
I haven’t spent much time in Los Angeles as of late, and when I have been home, not much exploring was done. What I did do between Europe and New York? I hosted my 30th birthday party as an at-home “coffee shop.” My husband and my best friend were the most incredible baristas (and even roasted fresh beans!) and we offered a variety of café-esque bites, most of which were made by Fin. I designed a menu, had custom matchboxes printed, and used stickers and stamps to make it feel all the more real.
After our whirlwind trip I knew we wouldn’t be up for throwing a big, late night rager or going out and spending loads on drinks. We’re not big drinkers these days anyway. I also wanted a gathering where my friends with kids were more likely able to make it, and allow people the chance to drop in for a quick coffee or stay and chat for a few hours. We called it Sunday Roast as an ode to my husbands U.K. roots and are counting down the days until we can do it again!

Oh also, new hotel in Venice alert! Vitorrja is the first hotel by the Gjelina Group - you know, the team behind beloved LA restaurants Gjelina and Gjusta (Gjesus try saying that 10x fast). It’s situated on the highly coveted Rose Ave, just a few steps from the beach, and the property looks beautifully done. Rooms seem to start around $250/night which, all things considered, is a reasonably average price here.
Falling in love with framing… I’m just obsessed! Colorful, pattern-filled frames and mat boards are such an easy and exciting way to liven up your space. You can certainly go the DIY route (some resources at the bottom) but here are a few of my favorite makers:
Sarah Goodwin runs a luxury online paper goods store with super fun mounts that will elevate any and all of your family photos, art prints, or sentimental cards.

Studio Simone views their frames as an extension of the art you put inside. Each one is made to order and is made from solid hard wood - low waste and built to last!

Petri Prints is a small family-run business specializing in custom framing on antique originals, reprint collections, and bespoke commissions.

For more cost effective methods, I love this adorable DIY (this one too) on how to create your own unique mat board with scraps you may already have. You can also find some cute pre-made mats on Etsy and American Frame.

R. — READING
It’s been well established that I’m a slow reader, and as a result, I’m still getting through Pride & Prejudice. I didn’t have an exciting new picture of the book, so here’s a photo I took of Fonthill Castle in Doylestown, PA this week that was giving me major P&P vibes.

PopUp Bagels was something I saw on TikTok a longgggg time ago and, surprisingly, it lived up to the hype! These are specifically “rip & dip” bagels which means they have a crustier exterior and more pillowy interior. They’re bagged super hot and fresh and you do just what it sounds like - rip them open, dip them in schmear, and enjoy!
P. — PLAYING
Last year I was lucky enough to work on my first feature, Lake George, and it just premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. I was so excited to be there and share in the experience with some of my oldest friends, family, and favorite crew members.

Hydrangeas providing superior summer vibes back East.

Bemelmans Bar is an Upper East Side gem. Located in the Carlyle Hotel, it’s the perfect place for a date night or special catch up with a dear friend. The walls are covered with amazing murals of Ludwig Bemelmans illustrations (creator of the Madeline children’s books - a classic) and the Martini-centric menu, while expensive, is definitely worth the splurge. From 5:30pm on there is a dress code, $10 cover charge, and live pianist or jazz trio.
T. — TREATING (MYSELF TO)
Every trip to Philadelphia means quality time with my favorite people, my beloved Bubby & Zayda. At the incredible ages of 90 and 92, I find myself constantly learning from them, with them, and sometimes, even teaching them. Bubby is one of my most loyal readers (hi, Bubby!) and I never take any moment with them for granted.
Fully reading pride and prejudice now because of you lol
Omg those frame mounts!! And still obsessed with your Sunday Roast matches. I 🤍 For Your Party
